Buying hearing aids for a parent
You can order for your mother or father and have the pair shipped to their home. Here is how it works, what to check first, and how to make the first days easier for them.
1. Ship to their door
Pay with your card, then enter your parent's address at checkout. We ship only to addresses in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
The in-the-canal pair (JH-A260) isn't shipped to British Columbia yet: we're confirming one BC technical rule for this model.
The order confirmation comes to you.
[You can add your parent's email to get the tracking link too.]
[Paying from another province? See our FAQ.]
2. Check it's right for them first
These hearing aids are for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss: they hear, but miss words, turn the TV up, or find restaurants hard to follow.
Your parent should see a doctor or audiologist first if they have sudden or fast-worsening hearing loss, hearing loss in one ear only, or ear pain, fluid or dizziness.
Not sure? A hearing test at a clinic is the surest way to know. We are not a clinic.
3. Pick a style together
- Stiff fingers or poor eyesight? The behind-the-ear style (JH-D26AT) is bigger, so easier to hold, put on and clean.
- The in-the-canal style (JH-A260) is tiny: it needs steady fingers.
- The JH-D26AT works without an app or a phone.
- [The JH-A260 works without an app too: to confirm.]
4. How to bring it up
- Pick a calm, quiet moment, face to face, away from the TV.
- Talk about what you miss together, like long phone calls or family dinners, rather than about what's wrong.
-
Let them try, without pressure.
There's a [60]-day home trial: they can decide at home, in their own time.
Many people wait years before trying hearing aids. A first try at home, with no appointment, can be easier.
5. When the box arrives
- Charge the case first.
- [Charging the case takes X hours.]
- [Start with the medium dome.]
- If sound leaks or the hearing aid feels loose, try the next dome size.
- Put them on in front of a mirror, the first few times.
- [Wear them a few hours a day at first, in quiet rooms, then longer.]

8. Questions from family
Can I pay, and have them shipped to my parent?
Yes. Pay with your card and enter your parent's address at checkout. We ship only to addresses in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
My parent won't wear them. What then?
It's common to need time. Suggest short periods at home first, in quiet rooms.
[Start with the medium dome.]
If they're still not for them, you can return them within [60] days: [free / $X] return shipping, refund within [X] business days.
What if they lose one?
Loss isn't covered by the warranty or the protection plan, and we can't sell a single hearing aid yet. Write to us: we'll tell you the options.
Can my parent call you directly?
Yes. Your parent can call [number] or write to [support@earnesthearing.ca].
